Beyond the Office: SSWA Connects with Displaced Families in Mogadishu
The Somali Social Workers Association (SSWA) carried out a vital community outreach visit to displacement camps on the outskirts of Mogadishu as part of its ongoing commitment to people-centered social work.
The visit focused on engaging directly with internally displaced families to better understand their daily challenges, urgent needs, and living conditions. SSWA’s field team spent time listening face-to-face with mothers, caregivers, and community members, ensuring that their voices are heard and reflected in future programming.
By being physically present in the community—sitting with families and sharing their environment—the team strengthened trust and gathered first-hand insights essential for meaningful intervention.
This outreach reflects SSWA’s belief that effective social work goes beyond office walls. It is built on compassion, direct engagement, and advocacy for those who are often unheard. The findings from this visit will help refine programs and guide future support efforts to create sustainable and lasting impact for displaced communities.
