Somali Social Workers Association (SSWA) Participates in World Social Work Day

Today, the Somali Social Workers Association (SSWA) proudly took part in the celebrations of World Social Work Day, held virtually via Zoom. The event included participants from the South African Social Workers Association, other leaders representing countries across Africa, and Pascal Rudin, representing the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW), who spoke about the importance of social work and how social workers contribute to community development and addressing social challenges.

The virtual meeting provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen international collaboration among social work professionals and encouraged the exchange of knowledge and experience. Key topics discussed included:

The role of social workers in promoting and supporting Somali communities.

How international social work organizations can support professional development and mentorship for new social workers.

The importance of Harambee: unity and collaboration in building stronger communities.

Cooperation and networking among African social work associations to share experiences and support each other.

SSWA is proud to be part of global networks of social work professionals, which allows us to learn from international best practices and enhance the quality of social services in Somalia.

We extend our thanks to all members, partners, and supporters of SSWA who participated in today’s event. This engagement strengthens our mission to build healthy, just, and united communities.
